When you are unable to celebrate Mass in Church, you may wish to make this act of spiritual communion:-

Lord Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Blessed Sacrament. I love you above all things and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen

Please keep in your prayers:

  • all our parishioners who are sick, housebound or in hospital including Fr. Michael McKenna
  • all those whose memories we cherish at this time

Bishop Stephen Wright

We warmly welcome to our Diocese Bishop Stephen Wright who will be installed as our new Bishop on Wednesday, 19th July, 2023 in St. Mary’s Cathedral.

You may feel able to say the following prayer for him:-

Lord, rock of our hearts, from a sea swept island
you sent Aidan and Cuthbert to sow your Word fruitfully throughout our Northern Land
and you inspired Bede to understand and speak your truth reflected in our lives and in our history.
Grant your servant, Stephen, whom you have called to follow them, a rich share in this heritage
– to speak your Word courageously to teach wisely and to lead with love.

(Based on a prayer composed by Monsignor Kevin Nichols 1929-2006)

The Parish Newsletter by email

Could you help to offset the cost of printing paper copies of the Newsletter by having it sent to you by email? Many of you have been receiving it electronically throughout the pandemic and continue to do so. If you do not already receive it in this way and would like to receive the Newsletter and other news from the parish by email, please send your request to the parish office at felling.stpatrick@rcdhn.org.uk and you will be added to our contact list. The Newsletter may also be found on our parish website.

A few printed copies will still be available from St. Patrick’s and St. Alban’s churches, on the days they are open for Mass, for those of you who do not have access to email.

Thank you

Fr. Patterson is grateful for your ongoing generosity in these difficult times for us all. Although we do not take a collection at Mass by passing round a basket, we do hope you will feel able to make an offering towards the upkeep and running costs of our churches in one of the boxes you will find at the entrances to our churches. Your offerings are our sole source of income. Should you wish to make your offering by standing order the details are:

St Alban’s HSBC bank account name: DHN Pelaw St Alban, Sort code: 40-34-18, Account No: 92010984
